The truth about truths

'The truth shall set you free', these are more than preacher words, but they are eternal principles that govern the growth and prosperity of all things. As a child my father would say to me, son, look at that tree, it has to be true to itself if not when the season to bear fruits comes it will have none, this was the usually analogy before a go study some more command. Now I see those words as words on marble, the mystical elixir to all success. Nature and natural principle are truths.  All success stories that last the test of time are true, all fights, revolutions, revolts that succeeded had these elements ingrained in its values.

My people are under the bondage of poverty, strife, and so many other societal and economic ills because we have jettisoned truths and displaced its associated values. Unknown to them truth is a science, its objective, if the equation is true the result will always be correct.

A minister of labour was asked an interesting question the other day as to why there’s an incessant trend amongst medical doctors to seek employment outside the country, which isn’t only a brain drain on the country but a depletion of our teeming youth and labour force. In a poor attempt of a defence his response was ‘we have enough that’s why we are exporting them to other countries; this is one of many lies that our leaders tell themselves that consequently hinders our progress as a nation. The work and living conditions for this sect of people are unfavourable and unprofitable, after-all, the end goal of all jobs is to put food on the table and attend to basic needs, if not more, with minimal risk to the provider.
Most Nigerian leaders now engaged in barefaced lies, whether it’s a face saving measure for their shambolic performances, or a tacky attempt to hoodwink the undiscerning populace or just playing to the gallery of malicious party loyalists and their principal, the result can only be one thing-failure.

I make this solemn plea, for our doctors, for our brave soldiers fighting the war against terrorism, for the students asking themselves if education is still the way, for the retirees that face the despair of a wrongful investment of their time in the nothingness their careers has become, please adopt the truth in all you do, it will set us free from the limitations that besets us.
